Andrew's family was kind enough to share some of their yummy treats that his father sent to them from Japan. Andrew also brought in two fans that sports "fans" use at events such as baseball. The class was able to see Japanese writing and taste a Japanese treat. It was very exciting and our class loved it!!! Thank you to Andrew and his family.

This week we talked about hurricanes and what happens in a hurricane. We determined that one major thing that happens is rain. So we discovered why it rains. To help us visualize rain, we conducted an experiment. Watch our videos and see our pictures on how we learned hands on about rain. Over the past two weeks we learned all about Thanksgiving. As part of our learning experience we re-created different parts of what brought about Thanksgiving. One group was assigned to make the Mayflower. Another made a Pilgrim house. Then one group made a wetu (Native American home). The last group made a Thanksgiving Feast. Our Art teacher, Mrs. E, came in and assisted our class on Monday. We had such a great time. On Wednesday, November 21, 2012, we presented what we learned to our fourth grade friends in Mrs. Sugg's class, our first grade friends in Mrs. Murphy's class, and our assistant principal (Mrs. Riggs). I was so proud of our class. Take a look at some of our pictures and a video from each group. Now our two classes (Mrs. Wilson's and Mrs. Sugg's) have been broken down into 10 groups of 5 students. Each student has an assigned role (Ecologist - 1 per group, Scientific Analyst - 1 per group, Recorder - 1 per group, Archaeologist - 2 per group). Each group was given a bag with their role badges and a list of questions. Once their questions had been answered they went to the computer to type their information in their online journal. |
