While we were on our field trip to the Pumpkin Patch I bought a class pumpkin. I told the children that we would perform a science experiment on the pumpkin the Friday before Halloween, but I didn't tell them what it was. I also did not allow them to guess. You could just see the wheels turning through their eyes and giggles. Well when the day finally came they were more than excited. I took them outside and we discussed the life cycle of the pumpkin again and I allowed them all to feel the outside of our pumpkin. As they were lining up to go back inside I told them to stop and told them there was one more thing we needed to do since we were all scientists. "A good scientist would investigate all parts of the pumpkin. Not just their life cycle and the outside. We need to discover the INSIDE of the pumpkin." They were HILARIOUS. And yes, even I investigated the inside of the pumpkin and I think this grossed them out even more.
